SAVING READING? Although comparisons between J.K. Rowling and Dickens, perhaps even Twain and Lewis, may be apt, I would have to conclude that the somewhat melodramatic headline - "How Harry Saved Reading" - in Norman Lebrecht's article in the Wall Street Journal, is a noted departure from such appropriateness. Perhaps the title should have been a little more measured and reserved, although I suspect it was selected by an editor looking for eyeballs, as opposed to the writer himself. Indeed, her contribution to the popularity of literature (albeit not advanced) has been of great significance, but it is advised that we stop short of getting carried away.
