The contemptable realm of self-help and the uptick of Facebook philosophers

WHAT WE NEED NOW: Tony Schwartz administers what could only be described as 'self help advice' – tips on how he manages to live his live well in turbulent times. God help me. "We're all in this together. Like it or not, we live in an increasingly interdependent world." Oh, how profound! Speaking of online profundity, has anyone else noticed the sudden uptick in the number of Facebook philosophers? The other day I noticed a status – "You can't die if you never lived in the first place." – which, to my horror, was met with amazing levels of approval. Being the sarcasm-doling cynic I try ever-so-hard to be, I remarked, "How profound." My comment was deleted. Thrice. Oh, I give up.
