CHURCH AND STATE, CTD: On the issue of Rick Perry's religious fanfare, PM Carpenter sees it how it is.

Rick Perry's "Response" was, of course, nothing of the sort; merely another unholy political outreach to the immeasurable power of electoral bigotry. If God ever indeed gave a celestial damn about imbuing America's White House with the dubious blessings of Christian fundamentalism, I should think George W. Bush caused Him some serious reconsideration, and He sure wouldn't be phoning Rick so soon. After George, atheists must look pretty good to His better angels.
