Obama is
expected to announce his new deficit-cutting plan on Monday, half of which will be sourced from raised taxes. The political danger in this move is that the increase will stoke the fire of his opponents' criticism. Although I happen to be of the view that cutting spending is preferable to raising taxes, it seems like an intelligent move, in spite of the fact that it will attract unwanted criticism from many on the right. They ought to remember what he's done to
lower taxes.
